Shaykh Mohamed Almasmari is of Yemeni descent, and was born and raised in Michigan. At a very young age, he memorized the Holy Qur’an and began leading taraweeh prayers during the month of Ramadan. Soon after completing his secondary education, he embarked on a journey to Yemen to study traditional Islam under some of the world's greatest scholars of this time. During his studies, he was also blessed to memorize Saheeh Muslim as well. Shaykh Almasmari earned his Bachelor & Master Degrees in Islamic Sciences & Islamic Law.
While in Yemen, he was granted many Ijaazaats by his teachers in many areas of Islam, such as: Fiqh-Islamic Jurisprudence, Tafseer-ul-Qur'an, Ijaazaats focusing on the works of Shaykh-ul-Islam Imam Al-Shawkaani’s, Saheeh-ul-Bukhari and Muslim, the recitation, memorization & teaching of Qur'an, many of Imam Nawawi's works, as well as other Islamic works.
After completing his studies, Shaykh Almasmari returned to America and served as Imam in Oakland, CA and Brooklyn, NY, where he captured the hearts of thousands of Muslims through his captivating lectures, khutbahs, and his beautiful recitation of the Holy Qur'an. Currently, he resides in Michigan and serves as the Imam of the Muslim Unity Center in Bloomfield Hills, MI. He also serves as a member on the Fiqh Council of Michigan, Michigan Muslim Community Council and the Council of Islamic Organizations of Michigan.
Shaykh Almasmari is married and has three children. He loves working with the youth and counseling Muslim families on social issues.
